Presentation experience

Due to technical difficulties, I had missed the first day of class. I was worried that I would already be starting the semester off on a bad foot. Thankfully, our professor gave me a second chance to make up this presentation on another day. During the 3 presentations, a lot of new information was going through my head. The 3 chapters that were spoken about in today’s class were titled Intercultural Communication, communicating in groups and Group leadership and Problem solving. The first group that performed was my favorite topic. This group talked mainly about cultures. I learned the proper definition of maybe terms that before was never the way I thought it was. This group had the most videos and I am a visual learner, so this is how I like to learn for myself. However, time was limited so we had to skip other videos from the other two presenters. A new term I learned was Intercultural Communication. This term will be a new addition to my vocabulary. I always knew about this but never learned the word for this until now. This means when communication between two different cultures can be considered difficult because there two parties are from different lands. Another great thing I learned from this outstanding group was the difference between Individualistic culture and Collectivist culture. I was also able to apply this to my daily life. I know now that I am involved in a collectivist culture. I wish I can be the change to be a part of a individualistic culture because they seem so goal oriented and a very positive atmosphere. Group 1 also showed a fun animation on a new term I learned today. This is called High and Low context cultures. This is defined as cultures that use the most context clues or the least clues in communicating with one another. I enjoyed watching the video very much so. It made the presentation a lot more light-hearted and fun! I learned that Germany was a country that uses the least clues to communicate. On the other hand, China, uses the most clues. Fun fact of the day you’re welcome.

Moving onto the next group, they mainly discussed group work and ethics. I am a part of this group, so I am impressed on how well my group performed and I am ecstatic by how intelligent my classmates are. Nowadays with the world going tech. It was nice to have a presentation about different ways of communication through the online world, so I feel more educated about this topic. This group talked a lot about healthy traits of good teamwork that is not stated enough already. People should have friendly, consistent reminders of what they are expected. Now finally. Chapter 3 was unfortunately cut short. Once again, time was not our friend this day but group 3 did try their best. I saw the effort there. They mainly discussed how group can formulate new ideas together and receiving the highest quality. In conclusion, I think our first presentation was good for our first one but time will help us practice and become better with time management and execution.
