Group Presentations

With the start of this semester, we were briefly introduced to the class and with our first assignment we were put into our groups and it was a pleasure meeting professor Sherri Sinkoff and my group. Shortly after we had our first group assignment that was due on 05/12/2021. There are 3 groups that were task on different chapters. Group 1 was assigned to chapter 3 “Intercultural Communication”, group 2 assign to chapter 9 “Communication in groups” and finally group 3 with chapter 10 “Group leadership and problem solving”.

Group 1 presented chapter 3 “Intercultural Communication”. They explained about different topics that relates to the different cultures, communications, gender, and race. In today’s world there are many factors that plays a role in communication. Factors that are taking into consideration are the culture they are from, of how even today the roles of male and female are still being talked about and everyone deserves to be treated the same, and of course race. Group 1 did a great job on explaining their chapter with great videos and explanations.

Group 2 we presented chapter 9 “Communication in groups”. Our chapter was very interesting. We were all very informative with our slides. Even though we were a little nervous presenting our parts we all did a wonderful job. I learned that they were so many kinds of communication within different types of groups. Communication goes a long way from support and our mental state. Little do we know but communication is part of our DNA. Doing something as simple as asking someone how they are doing can go a long way. And the numerous about of different support group that are available for everyone is great.

Group 3 presented Chapter 10 “Leadership and problem solving”. Coming to this point our class was short in time because of a well put presentation followed by group 1 and 2, even though group 3 was short in time they did a great job on presenting their chapter and was well put together. Sometimes keeping it short and sweet is a good thing. They talked about the importance of a leader and how well and leader function is how their followers will respond. Piggybacking on the other two chapters that were talked about everything relates to one another.

Concluding this blog all the groups did a great job on presenting their parts and besides, it being a remote class everyone communication was very good. I really enjoy that fact that the presentations were not just all words it was more interactive with lots of pictures, and videos. Keeping the presentations interesting allows the readers to retain more information because your just not reading words off from a slide. I personally learn a lot more by visualizing things.
